In race of better smaller and full frame mirrorless camera, Canon is also jumping in. The recent leaks info about Canon EOS RP suggests that it has a lighter, smaller and is full frame mirrorless camera. Canon is also keen to announce its second full-frame mirrorless camera following the EOS R. Before the official info will arrive, the upcoming Canon EOS RP has been exposed in leaked photos and specs.
The new Canon EOS RP the same R body with customized specs and features. Not only that, the design and form factor are noticeably different from others. The EOS RP uses Canon’s new(ish) RF lens mount. The build up shares the same throat diameter of 54mm as Canon’s EF mount. But it has a significantly shorter flange distance of 20mm.
Canon EOS RP
Coming to the specification about Canon EOS RP, the camera has RF lenses. These lenses includes, the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, RF 28-70mm. with them there are two more lenses as f/2L USM, RF 50mm f/1.2L USM and RF 35mm f/1.8 IS STM Macro. Besides that, recently Canon announced five new optics that in an updated roadmap. However, there aren’t really any ‘entry-level’ optics here that compliment the EOS RP, with perhaps the exception of the RF 35mm f/1.8 IS STM Macro.
Canon will be packing its EF-EOS R mount adapter with the EOS RP, and while there will be a couple of tools available with enthusiastic RF lenses. The kit will have EF lenses and EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM standard zoom lens.
The Canon EOS RP features the same built-in 2.36 million-dot electronic with a 3.0-inch vari-angle touch-screen. It has the best completion of touch-screen control of any camera maker.
Not only that, the camera has 4K video support up to 25p. The EOS RP has to use a cropped area of the sensor to capture 4K at 1.7x, meaning wide-angle framing will be difficult. The EOS RP has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity as well. While the Bluetooth enables low-powered, constant connection to be maintained between the camera and a smart device for seamless transfer of images.
